is a rotting beast,
still writhing & pulsating
&
gasping for air.

it's a dying giant,
taking with it
the last, final frontier
of human migration,
as well as all the hopes & dreams
that came to a bloody halt
when westward mania
reached the pacific.

so what are we to do in order
to save
the populace
inhabiting
this great golden state
of ours, you may be
asking.
